1. Can you introduce yourself and Cosgear?
My name is Vetle, I am the CMO of Cosgear. We are a cosplay tech startup, aiming to build innovations that heighten, improve and simplify the cosplay process. Our first product was the Costail, an electric tail that moves based on body movement and by itself when you’re standing still. In November 2020 we launched the Cosband Pro, a magnetic headband for fastening ears, horns and other headgear in cosplay. We are a team of 7 engineers, entrepreneurs, cosplayers and creators based in Norway.
2. How was Cosgear born? How did you start?
Cosgear was born when we came across a prototype of an amazing tail that moved based on body movement, and introduced it to the cosplay community. Their excitement and passion sparked something in us and we got going on making it a commercial product. We fell in love with the cosplay community and built local and international contacts who helped us test the tail. From the start we recognized that this was a group of people we were incredibly motivated to help and to provide new opportunities for.
3. What makes Cosgear different? Can you explain your products with details?
Every Cosgear product is made based on feedback from our customers and the cosplay community. Our products are made with an incredible attention to detail and every feature is tested by potential customers to make sure it suits all the facets of their lifestyle. The Costail is a premium product that allows the user to add lifelike movements to their costume. The tail shifts between movements based on sensors that detects hip movement, and requires no other input from the wearer. It is made with high quality materials, and is customizable in length, shape and look. The Cosband Pro is an elastic velvet headband made to support heavy headgear through wigs in cosplay. It allows for the wearer to easily fasten ears and horns without clips or a visible headband. It is adjustable with velcro in the back, and comes with 8 magnets in different sizes so that you can attach them to your own headgear.
4. What reactions do you get from your clients? Do they love your products?
Our customers have been very happy so far, and we get a lot of feedback that our solutions have made their life easier and their cosplays more expressive. We’re lucky enough to have our customers share their excitement on social media, so we see a lot of them every week!
