1. Can you introduce yourself and Pet Chum?
My name is Saugata Dey. I am currently pursuing Btech in the Dept. of IT. Me & my mom Mrs. Tapati Dey, started Petchum just a year back. We started Petchum as an Online platform for selling Pet Foods & Pet Related Products. Now we are also trying to provide various pet related services to the parents such as Training of your pets & grooming of your pets etc.
2. How was Pet Chum born? How did you start?
The idea of Petchum started when we welcomed our little friend Snowy to our house 4 years back. We felt that there is really very less guidance about pet parenting in our country. I meant to say that pet shops & pet service providers are always focused on their end goal which is the sales & there is very less human touch. So we did a market research & created a business plan & then we started. The time we started petchum.store it was a very stressful time in whole world as due to Covid-19 Pandaemic. So we started our business during the lockdown. We partnered with a local pet shop & some pet foods distributors & we used to deliver pet food within 3 hours in our nearby regions, such as Howrah & Kolkata, WB, India. Slowly slowly once the situation becomes a little bit better we started to provide our services Pan India. As we are growing slowly slowly we are trying to create innovative solutions which will help the life of both pets & pet parents much more easier.
3. What makes Pet Chum different? Can you explain your products with details?
The word “different” have really various meanings from various different perspectives. From our perspective at Petchum we are really trying to say that we really care about our users. If you visit our site you will see there are no such marketing campaigns or festive discounts or any kind of offers are going around. As a brand we are more focused on creating solutions that will help all the pets & pet parents in their everyday life than solutions that will help us to gain extra revenue. We really care about creating a community of thosand members rather than creating a customer base of millions. So by difference you can say we are the only ecommece marketplace that hates to tell their purchasing customers, “Customers” but love to adress them as our “Members”.
4. What reactions do you get from your clients? Do they love your products?
Our members really like our products. Most of the time they praise us which you can check from our FB page & Google pages. Some times we get a complain about one thing that is quick shipping> As India is a vast country some times opur product deliveris get delayed. As we’re a new startup so we’re continuously working on to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
5. What are the advantages of Pet Chum?
As we’re mostly focusing on various problems that pets & pet parents expecting in their day to day lives & continusously working on creating various innovative solutions to resolve these issues that gives us edge over our competitors. As pet care & pet food markets in India continously growing so these also gives us various chances to try & test & then finally launch these solutions.
