The Fabric Marketplace was founded in 2021, by Esther Tay, a well-known fashion designer in Singapore. Apart from her main business as a uniform company, The Fabric Marketplace’s initiative is to bring offline fabric shopping into the digital ecosystem locally in Singapore and gradually expand globally.
2. How was www.thefabricmarketplace.com born? How did you start?
The Fabric Marketplace began as an idea, after going to our warehouse and looking at all the well-kept new and leftover fabrics that we have from our main business of fashion and corporate wear. Instead of letting them sit in our warehouse, we decided it would be right to give them a new lease of life with the creative community. We recognize that fabric shopping has been traditionally, an in-person activity and there are a lot of local fabric shops that house great fabrics but are not yet in the digital ecosystem. We aim to bring digitalization to our local industry while providing our community with an easy-to-use online fabric platform that would make fabric searching & shopping easier and more convenient.
3. What makes www.thefabricmarketplace.com different? Can you explain your products with details?
The Fabric Marketplace focuses on branding, a brand with a story to tell. We curate fabrics seasonally based on collections, with mood & inspiration boards, like how a fashion designer comes out with a collection of garments. Starting with selling leftover high-quality dead stock fabrics at a low price and eventually, we will bring in unique fabrics that cater both to consumers as well as businesses.
4. What reactions do you get from your clients? Do they love your products?
We had positive feedback from our customers! They loved our fabrics! Some made garments out of the fabrics purchased from us and made into amazing garments! Such talented group of people~
