1. Can you introduce yourself and The Other Skincare?
My Name is Elitsa Milanova and I am a Certified Organic Skincare Formulator and the founder of The Other Skincare Company.
I am a very firm believer in holistic health and holistic beauty and I also believe that the human body possesses tremendous intelligence and it can self heal and self regulate. This belief is in the core of my brand’s philosophy as well, The Other Skincare Company specializes in problem skin, we formulate products for adult acne and dehydrate and inflamed skin and will be launching a line for skin prone to rosacea in the near future. Unlike most traditional and many natural and organic skincare brands we don’t target separate conditions or separate symptoms, instead we design products that boost the skin’s immune and barrier systems allowing it to heal and repair itself. This is the exact same approach we want to take when we are sick, we don’t want to address separate simproms just so we temporarily don’t feel the discomfort we want to boost our immune system with vitamins, minerals, exercise and so on so our body can heal itself faster.
To accomplish this we use “skin-identical” ingredients. These are ingredients that are naturally part of the structure of our skin like ceramides, cholesterol, free fatty acids, hyaluronic acid, glycerol, proteins just to name a few. Supplying skin-identical ingredients to the stratum corneum supports the skin barrier function and immunity reducing trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) and restoring epidermal homeostasis.
We blend these barrier boosting ingredients with only the purest, most potent, naturally derived actives and base ingredients to deliver clean and effective products in elegant, cutting edge delivery systems.
All our products are formulated without harsh, striping or irritating ingredients to further ensure the skin barrier function and lipid barrier of the stratum corneum stay intact resulting in a stronger, healthier and more resistant skin.
2. How was The Other Skincare born? How did you start?
I started formulating products (for myself) and researching skincare ingredients, nutrition and the connection between the skin and the gut & liver health about 10 years ago when I was trying to get to the bottom of my own skin problems. I had extremely dry, inflamed and reactive skin that was constantly red and very hot, I was eventually diagnosed with rosacea and told that there is no cure for this condition and that one can only manage the symptoms. I, of course, didn’t believe that. Since then I have completely changed my lifestyle, diet and skincare routine and over gone numerous gut and liver cleanses all of which resulted in me having a perfectly healthy, hydrated, glowing skin for years now.
However, I was never planning on launching my own company until my teenage son started having acne problems 2 years ago, this is how the company was born. I made few products for him and we saw amazing results and then I started researching and digging deeper and realized that the % of adults who still suffer from acne is huge, I was so shocked because I myself never suffered from acne yet along in my adult years, so I decided to perfect my products and launch them as a line for adult acne, followed with a line that will support rosacea prone skin hopefully by the end of this year.
3. What makes The Other Skincare different? Can you explain your products with details?
What makes the Other Skincare Company different is the fact that our products are formulated to boost the skin’s own ability to heal itself instead of focusing on separate symptoms. Of course we do address things like clogged pores, dryness, breakouts and inflammation using different plant derived actives but the core ingredients in all our products are the skin immunity boosting “skin-identical” ingredients. We also formulate without any unnecessary substances used in skincare to enhance the way a product looks, feels or smells, eliminating as much as possible non-essential ingredients that are potential skin barrier disturbers and focus only on what the skin is lacking to repair, replenish and regenerate itself.

KEEP CALM oil-to-milk face cleanser
This is a cutting edge formula combining a blend of deep cleansing oils, exfoliating enzymes and skin barrier strengthening actives.
This is a powerful but gentle face cleanser that draws impurities and excess oil build up out of the pores balancing the skin sebum production. It uses essential fatty acids to gently but deeply cleanse the skin and a special fruit enzymes mix to boost exfoliation and enhance cellular proliferation. With added ceramides for a skin barrier boost and Blue Tansy for its calming properties this innovative formula will leave your skin clean, calm and subtle and will not disturb the skin’s microbiome and pH like most conventional cleansers. Soap free and rinses clean with water, no greasy feel after use.
NMF – Micellar Water for Gentle Cleansing and Toning
True to our philosophy of supporting problem skin with barrier boosting ingredients we loaded this micellar water with ingredients that are part of the skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) to aid in increasing hydration levels. To condition, soothe and calm the skin we are using colloidal oat and Jojoba extract and to boost anti-oxidant and anti-ageing properties as well as to protect the skin we added bamboo isoflavones. For toning, regenerating and rejuvenating the skin there is nothing better than Rose & Neroli hydrosols together with green tea, cucumber, echinacea and mangosteen extracts. And finally to purify the skin we are using a minuscule amount of coconut derived surfactant which will gently cleanse the skin and tighten the pores without stripping the skin from its protective lipids. This is micellar water which means that it doesn’t need to be rinsed after use allowing for the active ingredients to penetrate the skin and do their job.
PLANT VOODOO – Clarifying Concentrate for Dehydrated Blemish Prone Skin
This powerful dry oil concentrate is the ultimate breakout neutralizer. Formulated with potent plant derived anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and skin-identical ingredients. It is designed for dehydrated skin prone to congestion, hormonal fluctuations, breakouts and inflammation and will support the skin’s barrier and immune system. The synergistic combination of Bakuchiol (plant form of Vitamin A with no side effects) and 1% salicylic acid has a proven skin purifying and anti-bacterial effect.
Thyme, chamomile CO2 and mangosteen peel extracts work together to calm, clear and protect the skin without disturbing the skin microbiome.
Ceramides in a blend of Black Cumin CO2 extract, Watermelon, Blackberry and Pomegranate oils rich in essential fatty acids (linoleic acid) will strengthen and boost the skin’s barrier making it more resilient and healthier looking.
PHANTOM – Ultra Hydrating Moisturizer for Blemish Prone Skin
This is an ultralight spray moisturizer that disappears in your skin giving it the needed hydration without aggravating your breakouts. The result is a silky, smooth and subtle skin.

4. What reactions do you get from your clients? Do they love your products?
We launched less than 1 year ago, during Covid and I was very nervous because of all the uncertainty and chaos around the pandemic but despite all that we have been consistently receiving overwhelming feedback and great products reviews. Some people are even sending us their before and after pictures which really warms my heart and helps me to keep pushing through our first year of business which is usually the hardest. I think that when you produce products with integrity and genuine desire to help solve a problem the results will follow.
5. What are the advantages of The Other Skincare?
The main advantage of our products is that they will keep delivering results in the long term, long after you have stopped even using them. Once the skins defence systems are restored the problems will go away on their own so unless the skin barrier is stripped again the skin should continue working its magic exfoliating, moisturizing and protecting itself from bacteria overgrowth and other environmental stressors.
